Review
This story is everything I expect a sequel to be, but then again I expected nothing less from a book by Abbi Glines. In While It Lasts, readers fell in love with bad boy Cage York who was sent to work for one long, hot summer on a farm because of a DUI. Here he met Eva Brooks and their love story magically unfolded. This book picks up where the first left off, but this time around Cage has been accepted into his dream school and that means suffering through a long distance relationship with Eva. We will watch them fight and struggle to keep their fairytale romance intact. They face brand new obstacles in this book, and another boy is thrown into the mix for Eva. As always, Abbi Glines delivers a wonderful, addicting new book with absolutely amazing character to boot!

Rollercoaster ride in hyper drive. This is the best description that I can come up with for this book. I was experiencing so many emotions as Eva and Cage break up and reunite and fight for one another. It was all so passionate and just the kind of story that made me fall in love with Abbi’s writing in the first place. I would even venture as far to say that I enjoyed this book more than the first. Eva and Cage were really put to the test here and I thought this was a pretty accurate representation of a long distance relationship and the kind of emotions that you experience while in the middle of one. Beautifully written!

All of Abbi’s book are written and paced so well. I always fly through them in about a day’s time. I got through this story even faster because once all the drama hit the fan there was no way I could ever put it down. I really enjoyed some of the added information that Glines put into the story that allowed us to catch up with characters from some of her past novels and see where their lives had taken them. I will remain a true, devoted Glines fan for as long as she is writing these awesome books! (Charming Chelsey's )

EVERYONE DESERVES A BIT OF CAGE YORK IN THEIR LIVES!!!!
By Natasha is a Book Junkie
"Make no mistake. There will always be an us. You can pretend like what we had never happened. You can ignore your feelings. Hell, baby, you can even marry Jeremy ***ing Beasley. But there will always be an us. No one and nothing can change that."

There are sequels and then there are PERFECT sequels, and this is as perfect as a continuation of a favourite story can get. In While It Lasts, we fell in love with Cage York, a bad boy sent to work on a farm during summer because of a DUI, who met his match in one fierce and no-nonsense farmer's daughter named Eva Brooks. We watched them flirt, fight their attraction, and eventually succumb to love. While at the end of that book we had left them in a good place, in this sequel, we watch them fight for that happy ending, through heartache and tragedy, but making it one heck of a roller-coaster ride that you won't want to pause for one single second. Cage York is my new obsession and after you read this book, you'll know why.

"No one else for me ever. You're it. You're my always."

The story takes off where the first book ended, Cage and Eva are blissfully happy together and faced with their first big decision as a couple - whether to move interstate to attend a college that would offer Cage a full-ride scholarship and an opportunity to play college baseball, putting him one step closer to his dream of playing professionally. But smooth sailing quickly turns into choppy waters as Eva's whole world comes crushing down when faced with her father's sudden illness. Forced to stay back and look after her dad and the farm, Eva lets Cage go to college on his own, reluctantly but selflessly, knowing that holding him back would only take his dreams away.

"You gotta let that boy go, baby girl. He came here last summer because he had a plan. He had one chance to get the future he wants and even though he is a rascal he is a smart boy. He got what he wanted. But if you ask him to let it go he will. In a heartbeat. Don't make him choose. Let him go. Make it okay for him to go take that dream he fought for. Do it `cause you love him."

What starts as a temporary long-distance relationship soon turns into missed phone calls and unusual text messages, and one ugly breakup later, Eva and Cage are no longer together. Eva's pain, coupled with the sorrow from watching her father slowly wither away, is tangible, soul-shattering. We watch her face a new reality in her life, bravely and with determination, regardless of the fact that her heart is breaking more and more each day. Cage is facing his own demons far away from the woman he loves. Eva's parting words scarred him deeply, awakening the unwanted little boy in him whose own mother had called him her biggest mistake.

"Just like my momma had when she'd called me her biggest mistake, she'd meant it. How could I fight for someone who didn't want me?"

They both stumble through their separation, heartbroken and lonely, until tragedy brings them back into each other's lives and back on the farm where they fell in love. And this is where the story becomes a whole new ballgame, one of two people still loving one another heart and soul, their bodies aching for each other, their lives making more sense being together than apart, but not trusting their hearts to find their way back to each other. Cage fights for Eva, like a man on a mission, persistently and passionately. He misses her in his arms, he resents her for giving up on them so easily and rejecting his love so readily, but he also loves her more than anything else in his life and he cannot see his future without Eva in it. But actions are so much better than mere words and nothing warms my heart like a man proving his undying love by refusing to leave his woman's side ever again.

"Being near you completes me. It makes me happy. I ****ed up and I lost you. I don't expect to ever get you back. I don't deserve you. But I want to be near you."

As Eva's resolve slowly crumbles down, we are reminded of the magic that made us fall in love with Cage and Eva in the first place, and why there is truly nothing like an Abbi Glines kind of happy ending. Brace yourselves because Ms Glines pulled out the big guns and gave these characters the send-off of a lifetime. Her books are getting more and more emotional with each new release and this instalment of the Sea Breeze series is no exception. Heart-wrenching, romantic, even sexier and steamier than the prequel and simply unputtable-down. Like I always say, pure Abbi Glines perfection.

"You're mine, Eva Brooks. Always. You told me that yourself and, sweetheart, I'm holding you to it."

Why spoil your own book in the prologue?
By Marie
The prologue of "Sometimes it lasts" tells us 1) Eva's father dies 2) Eva and Cage break up - and stay broken up for several months 3) Eva is pregnant 4) Jeremy proposes to Eva.

This reads as the CliffsNotes of the first 14 of a total of 24 chapters... I accept that very few read romances for the suspense, but I still found it annoying to have so much of the story given away from the beginning just as it detracted from my enjoyment of the first chapters while Eva and Cage were still together, since I knew we were closing in on "disaster"... and a chapter of Eva's: "I wonder what's wrong with my father? - and what are all these bald people doing here?" is just absurd when one knows his funeral is coming up.

So then there were 10 chapters and an epilogue (which ironically gave much less away than the prologue) left to enjoy: I guess they were all right apart from an uncomfortable masturbation scene and the absence of any real discussion of how they would organize their life going forward (unless you consider a "the world well lost" for love-back and forth a great plan for the future)

Over Priced
By Jess
Another good story from Abbi. Cage and Eva's story had all the normal drama and angst that Abbi is known for. But, I did feel it cut off and didn't finish clean. Reminded me alot of Never Too Far's ending. So I do feel it was too short for the price the publisher set it at. $5 is a good price for 181 pages and a book I can finish in one sitting not almost $10. Will I continue to read her series- yes. But I may wait until they go on sale to purchase them, which is disappointing since I don't normally like to wait. But I'm finding it more difficult to justify these prices publishers are charging.
